About Foundation Repair Texas

An independent, homeowner-first guide to foundation repair in Texas — written to be cited, not to sell you piers.

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Why we exist

Most foundation-repair information online is published by the companies that profit from the repair — the inspector and the seller are the same party. Foundation Repair Texas was built to be the opposite: an independent resource that explains what is actually wrong, what real repair costs, how to read an engineering standard, and — just as often — when you do not need structural work at all. Our home base is San Antonio and the surrounding Texas Hill Country, where expansive-clay soil makes foundation movement a chronic, expensive, and frequently over-sold problem.

Who publishes this site

Foundation Repair Texas is an independent editorial publication of Known By One LLC. We are not a foundation-repair contractor, a licensed engineering firm, or a salesperson for any company.

Our editorial standards

  • Engineer first, contractor second. Throughout the site we tell homeowners to start with an independent licensed engineer — someone with no pier to sell — before signing with any contractor.
  • Cited against engineering standards. Our guidance is written against published standards (ACI, ICC-ES, the IRC, the ASCE Texas Section guidelines, USDA-NRCS, EPA, and the Insurance Information Institute), and each page lists its sources. We do not invent statistics, credentials, or evaluation report numbers.
  • No fake credentials. We have not retained a Professional Engineer to review this content, so we never claim one has. Our pages say “cited against engineering standards” — a citation, not an engineering review. See our Disclaimer.
  • We tell you when not to buy. Many inspected homes need no structural repair. We treat that as the most important thing a homeowner can learn, not a sale we lost.

What we are not

We do not perform foundation repairs, inspections, or engineering, and we do not diagnose your specific foundation — only a licensed engineer who visits your home can do that. Nothing on the Site is professional advice or a substitute for it.

How “get matched” works

If you ask, we can connect you with an independent local foundation specialist for a free, no-obligation quote. The match is free to you, we don’t pressure you, and we encourage you to get an independent engineer’s report and your own bids regardless. The specialist is a separate company we don’t control or guarantee — vet them as you would any contractor.
